Product FAQ

G3 Stroller Base

While it's physically possible to fold the Stroller Base with Stroller Seat attached to the SmartHub™, it's not optimal. We recommend removing the Stroller Seat and folding the Stroller Base separately.

No. The Infant Car Seat and Toddler Car Seat are the only car seats designed to work with Orbit Baby strollers.

Unfortunately, airline damage is not covered under our customer warranty.

To clean the upholstery:

  1. Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Washing inside a pillow case and in a front-loading washer is recommended. DO NOT USE BLEACH.
  2. Lay the upholstery flat to dry. Do not machine dry. Machine drying may cause excessive shrinkage and result in the upholstery not fitting the car seat properly.
  3. Re-install the upholstery once cleaned and completely dried. DO NOT use the car seat without the upholstery.

To clean the sunshade:

  • The sunshade may be spot cleaned with a damp sponge and mild soap. Do not machine wash or dry the sunshade.

If you turn your Stroller Base upside down, on one of the front legs near the SmartHub™, you will find a silver rectangular sticker with the needed information.

O2 Stroller Base

The O2 Stroller Base works with all G2 and G3 Orbit Baby seats. See the O2 manual for specific seat configurations.

Limited Edition Porter Collection

No, the Limited Edition Porter Collection is a matching, 6 piece ensemble that is packaged in 3 separate boxes. The collection includes: G3 Infant Car Seat and base, Stroller Seat, Stroller Base, Cargo Basket, and Sunshade.

A limited quantity of the Limited Edition Porter Collection are produced. Once we are sold out, they will be gone.

Double Stroller

Never use any generation Orbit Baby Toddler Car Seat (G1, G2, G3) on the rear SmartHub™. Use any Orbit Baby Toddler Car Seat only on the front SmartHub™.

The Helix Plus or Double Stroller Kit is only compatible with the G2 or G3 Stroller Base. It is not compatible with the G1 or O2 Stroller Base.
The Sidekick Stroller Board is only compatible with the G2 or G3 Stroller Base. It is not compatible with the G1 or O2 Stroller Base. The Sidekick Stroller Board cannot be used simultaneously with the Double Stroller. However, if the rear SmartHub™ attachment is removed, the Sidekick can be installed.
The Stroller Panniers work on all Orbit Baby Stroller Bases except the O2 Stroller Base.

Stroller Seat

The Stroller Seat is not a car seat. Only the Orbit Baby Infant Car Seat and Toddler Car Seat are child restraints approved for use in motor vehicles.
Similarly, the Orbit Baby Bassinet is not approved for use as a carrycot in the vehicle.

The Stroller Seat only locks securely in rear-facing or forward-facing position. For safety and stability reasons, the Stroller Seat should never be used in side-facing position. The side-facing position applies only when the stroller is stationary or in motion.

Infant Car Seat

No. The Infant Car Seat is only designed for seamless integration with the Orbit Baby system.

No. The Infant Car Seat and Toddler Car Seat are the only car seats designed to work with Orbit Baby strollers.

If are having trouble untwisting the harness straps, we recommend detaching the harness straps from the splitter plates and untwisting them. Pull the Harness straps through the front of the car seat and make sure they are not twisted. Re-thread them through the slots and attach them to the splitter plates. Also, before attaching them to the splitter plates, it will be helpful to make sure that splitter plate strap is untwisted as well to ensure you can easily pull the adjuster strap through once you have reattached the harness straps to the splitter plates.

This is actually fairly easy fix! Please refer to page 64 of your G3 Infant Car Seat and Base manual to see photos that may guide you through this process.

  1. First, find the adjuster strap lock under the upholstery flap at the front of the seat. Pull on the shoulder straps while pressing down on the adjuster strap lock to loosen the straps.
  2. Un-zip the back of the Infant Car Seat and pull the panel up to reach the splitter plates
  3. Remove each shoulder strap from its metal splitter plate and pull them through to the front of the car seat
  4. You will notice one strap is shorter than the other. On the side with the shorter strap, locate the half circle hole on the hard exterior shell in the front of the car seat where the harness straps are visible. Use this to elongate the shorter strap.
  5. Once both straps are the same length, re-thread each shoulder strap through the upholstery and plastic slots and turn to the back of the Infant Car Seat and secure each strap onto the splitter plates.

Orbit Baby Infant Car Seats sold in the United States can only be used with children who weigh between 4-30 pounds (1.8-13.6 kg), whose height is between 19-32 inches (48-81 cm), whose shoulders are just above the closest set of shoulder slots, and which can be properly secured in the restraint harness.

Orbit Baby Infant Car Seats sold and used in Canada can only be used with children who weigh between 4-22 pounds (1.8-10 kg), whose height is between 19-29 inches (48-74 cm), whose shoulders are just above the closest set of shoulder slots, and which can be properly secured in the restraint harness.

Orbit Baby Infant Car Seats currently sold outside the United States and Canada follow European regulations for child restraint systems, and are classified as Group 0+ car seats. The Orbit Baby Group 0+ Car Seat is rated from birth to 13 kg.

In general, the center-rear seating location is considered the best location, as it offers the most protection in a side-impact collision. However, ALL the following conditions must be met:

  • Installation in this seating location is permitted by the vehicle manufacturer (check your vehicle owner's manual)
  • LATCH belt or vehicle seat belt provides a secure installation and remains tightly adjusted around the car seat
  • The vehicle seat contour allows the car seat to be properly leveled once installed
  • If the vehicle seat back is adjustable, the vehicle seat back is locked into the upright position.

If all of these conditions are not met, install the car seat in a different seating location. Typically most vehicle manufacturers will allow installation in the center-rear seating location but not with use of the LATCH belt.

After you have chosen a seating location, follow the car seat information in your vehicle owner’s manual, and the instructions in this manual, for installation using LATCH or a vehicle seat belt.

Although Orbit Baby has tested our car seat system in a large number of vehicles, it is nearly impossible for Orbit Baby to test in every car on the road. Therefore, we always insist that you refer to your car's owner manual to see if it can accommodate a car seat, and which seating positions can accommodate one. Additionally, our car seat manual is online at http://www.orbitbaby.com/support/manuals, there you can see specifics on installation and vehicle restrictions.

Toddler Car Seat

The Toddler Car Seat can be installed with either the LATCH connectors or the vehicle seat belt. Never install your Toddler Car Seat using both the LATCH connectors and the vehicle seat belt at the same time.

However, by U.S. safety standards, once your child exceeds certain weight limits, only the vehicle seat belt can then be used to install the Toddler Car Seat.

Here are 2 specific cases when you must install the Toddler Car Seat using a vehicle seat belt.

Toddler Car Seat in Rear-Facing Position: If you have installed the Toddler Car Seat rear-facing WITH the Car Seat Base AND your child weighs more than 25 lbs (11 kg) then you must install the Car Seat Base with an acceptable vehicle seat belt.

Toddler Car Seat in Forward-Facing Position: If you have installed the Toddler Car Seat forward-facing AND your child weighs more than 40 lbs (18 kg) then you must install the Toddler Car Seat with an acceptable vehicle seat belt. The top tether is still recommended to be used in this situation.

Please see the Toddler Car Seat Instruction Manual (pages 22-25) for further information and illustrations.

No. The Infant Car Seat and Toddler Car Seat are the only car seats designed to work with Orbit Baby strollers.

Use the Toddler Car Seat only with children who weigh between 15-65 lbs (7-29 kg), whose ears are not visible above the top of the restraint, and who can be properly secured in the restraint harness.

The Toddler Car Seat can be used in rear-facing position with children who weigh at least 15 lbs and who can sit upright unassisted.

Most state laws mandate that you must keep your child rear-facing if he or she is under one year of age, or under 20 pounds. However, some state laws are now requiring that you must keep your child rear-facing if he or she is under 2 years of age. These new laws are in alignment with the recommendations of authoritative organizations (including but not limited to the American Association of Pediatrics and the National Highway Traffic and Safety Association) which states best practice of keeping your child rear-facing for as long as possible and at least until age 2.

Of course, you should only keep your child rear-facing within your car seat's specifications (35 pounds in the case of Orbit Baby's Toddler Car Seat). Click here to learn more about the safety benefits of keeping children rear-facing longer.

When installing forward-facing, the Toddler Car Seat (like other convertible car seats) must be installed such that the back of the car seat makes direct contact with the rear seat of your vehicle for optimum stability and support. The American Academy of Pediatrics and safety experts recommend keeping your child rear-facing for as long as possible and at least until your child is age 2. The ease of rotation on the Car Seat Base is intended to encourage extended rear-facing use until our rear-facing weight limit of 35lbs. Once you transition your child to a forward-facing position, the Toddler Car Seat goes off the Base and installs with the included Side-Impact Braces.

Although Orbit Baby has tested our car seat system in a large number of vehicles, it is nearly impossible for Orbit Baby to test in every car on the road. Bassinet

The Stroller Seat is not a car seat. Only the Orbit Baby Infant Car Seat and Toddler Car Seat are child restraints approved for use in motor vehicles.
Similarly, the Orbit Baby Bassinet is not approved for use as a carrycot in the vehicle.

Yes, the Bassinet and Rocker can be used as a safe sleeping arrangement for your infant. When used with the Rocker Base, the Bassinet becomes a great bedside-height sleeping cradle. The mattress has a breathable aero-mesh fabric which facilitates airflow through the mattress. The soft-touch upholstery keeps baby comfortable by wicking moisture away from skin for a consistent temperature.

The Bassinet is rated for infants up to 20 pounds, or when the infant can roll over or push up on his/her hands and knees, whichever comes first. At this point, you should discontinue use of the Bassinet.

It's actually normal for the Bassinet to be tilted slightly on the Rocker when docked parallel to the legs on the Rocker. This is due to the fact that the hub of the Bassinet is slightly off-center in order to dock properly onto the Stroller Base. You can do two things to level the Bassinet on the Rocker. First, you can engage the anti-rock arms on the Rocker Base legs; this should help keep the Bassinet more level. Second, you can try rotating the Bassinet so it's docked perpendicular to the legs on the Rocker (side-to-side rocking).

Sidekick Stroller Board

Stroller Travel Bag

The Stroller Travel Bag fits the following products and combination of products:
G1/G2/G3 Stroller Base
G1/G2/G3 Stroller Seat
G1/G2/G3 Bassinet
any combination of Stroller Base and Stroller Seat
any combination of Stroller Base and Bassinet
any combination of Bassinet and Rocker Base

The Stroller Travel Bag was not desiged to fit the Infant Car Seat or Toddler Car Seat. If you are planning to check or gate-check your Infant Car Seat or Toddler Car Seat, Orbit Baby recommends you use a heavy duffel bag or thick plastic bag to protect your car seat during travel.

Compatibility

In general, almost any generation Orbit seat (Car Seats, Stroller Seats, and Bassinets) is compatible with any generation Orbit base (Car Seat Base, Stroller Base, and Rocker Base). The main exception usually involves our first-generation seats and bases. If you own or are thinking of using a G1 seat or base, please contact the Orbit Care team for more details on compatibility with newer-generation (G2, G3, O2) products.

General FAQ

Travel

We recommend you use the Infant Car Seat in the airplane as that is the safest place for your child. Here's a link to a page on the FAA's website that goes into some detail about this: http://www.faa.gov/passengers/fly_children/crs/

Orbit Baby car seats are certified for use in aircraft when used without the Car seat Base and is labeled as such on the car seat side labels in red lettering. Most airlines in the U.S. will allow the use of a car seat that is labeled as an approved child restraint for aircraft use. Always contact the airline about their car seat policy before traveling, and follow their guidelines for car seat use.

Please note that the Orbit Baby Toddler Car Seat is certified for use in aircraft when installed WITH the Side Impact Braces.

We are deeply saddened by this decision, as we have invested so much into building this brand and staying at the forefront of innovative car seat and stroller design. From the beginning, with Orbit Baby’s 360-degree rotation and easy car seat installation design, we have continued to push innovation and were very proud of the O2 hybrid Jogging stroller frame that was launched just last summer. We greatly appreciate the families that have supported us over the years and will continue to stand behind our existing warranties.

Both online and offline retailers may be offering Orbit Baby product until it has sold out. We will continue to support your purchase with great customer care.

Historically, Safian distributed Orbit Baby products only in South Korea. We do not know the specific plans of Safian for the future global distribution of Orbit Baby branded products.
